When should you use students' names?
I have always thought that we, as teachers, can use students' names when we want:
- to organize an activity;
- to acknowledge a query or contribution;
- to indicate who is to answer the question;
- to indicate who is to respond to an instruction;
- to get an individual student's attention.

Re: When should you use students' names?
Well, I must tell you something. I rarely use students' names like calling their names.
I have heard that to call students' names can make them pay more attention to the class and what we are doing in front of the class.
It can say that to call students' names is to get an individual student's attention.
In the near future, I am going to practice more about using students' names.

Re: When should you use students' names?
I think we as teachers should call students' names when we want to take register, get their attentions, make groups of students, and answer our questions. As teachers I think we should recognize students' names as many as we can remember. It is easier than we call them as "you" and names can build good relationship between teachers and stusents.

Personally, calling a student's name can be done when you want to call one of your students but all of them get confused. Instead of pointing a finger to a student to call him or her, the teacher would better call his or her name. It is more positive in this way. From my point of view, the word "you" should be avoided because students can get confused whether who is that "ัyou".

As teachers, we use students' names to grab attention of whom is considered loosing concentration.
They will be brought back from distraction, if a teacher particularly call their names.
Otherwise, they keep messing around and distracting other students in the classroom.

Re: When should you use students' names?
I have learned about the way to use compliments and motivation in order to keep a good climate in classroom language management and learning environment. There are some issues that are mentioned about using a student's name in class. As a teacher, we need to call our student's name for grabbing attention. Additionally, calling the student's name can individually increase their respect for you, as the teacher. Plus, it is considered one of the processes of make rapport which is the important step know your students.

Re: When should you use students' names?
We have to know every student's name to make them feel the cares of ours.
It is called 'building rapport' which I think it is a great thing to do.
After we know all of the students' name, when they lost their attention in class.
It also makes the students know that we care about them.

Re: When should you use students' names?
Actually, it really depends on the situations we are in at that time. Personally, knowing all of students' names is what we should be doing. When you call their names, it indicates that you care about them. As a teacher, I can use their names when I want them to answer questions. Besides, when I want them to help me pass the handouts to their friends or collect their friends' works, using students' names will be needed. Using students' names when having them involved in certain activities should be done as well. When they know that I recognize them, they tend to trust in me. Importantly, it will be easy for me to build a good relationship with them.

So, i always use therm to call the student. calling by studets' name makes the teacher close to the student. It's very important for the class, if the teacher know studets'name. I am one oof the taacher who always calls teh student's name.
