If you are trying to lose weight, then eating less carbohydrates, more proteins is good because carbs is actually what you actually store because it has glucose that the body store as fat if you eat too much of it. Whereas, proteins are used for the muscles and muscles lose growth in comparison to fats as the body uses muscles more than fat. I don't believe in diet because if you take out the t in diet you die. So just be sensible into what you consuming, drink more water than other kind of drinks available and eat at the required calories. Exercise also will keep your body in check too.
