He makes this statement as he's involved in a geopolitical crisis that could lead to the mutual destruction of the great powers of the day.

My favourite quote is "This too shall pass". It means that everything will pass by no matter it is happiness or sadness. And, I really agree on this point. There is no feeling that lasts with us. Being a human being, sometimes we are happy, then happiness will pass us by and replaces with sadness. This is the cycle that everyone has to face.
