Why do people lie to each other?

In my opinion, people have to lie to each other because they want to conceal their true feeling. I believe that most people always have their own sides which do not want to show to anyone. Thus, lie may be a good way to cover it. Sometimes, people do not lie for themselves, but for others who care about them. Life is hard, but living is harder. Do you think that?
