I think it affects customers a lot. Advertising is a powerful medium and people do get influenced by it. If not all people, the majority of them do get carried away and buy those products. So, yes you can say that people do get influenced by what's shown on TV and sometimes these products might turn to be good and sometimes it can be worthless.
