Why are some people always bored? What's wrong with their brains?

While a lack of interest often is described as being bored, there are some people who claim boredom as a way of avoiding things in their lives. For example, some younger people with few if any friends claim boredom about socializing because they have no one to socialize with, or are so introverted that being with other people is frightening. So they say that hanging around with people their own age is “boring” and they would rather be alone.
